The
challenge
As a leading logistics company with locations across the UK Europe and employing
over 1400 people, managing backups was an extremely resource-intensive
process, which often required a large amount of travelling between
sites by IT staff to resolve straight forward problems. In addition
the Group were actively looking for a new backup solution following
the failure of their tape based systems to restore data on a number
of occasions in the past.
The solution
d-stor provided an ideal solution because d-stor is a fully managed
service, backups can be taken from any number of remote locations
without the need for end-user involvement. In addition d-stor provides
comprehensive reports detailing a specific nodes or locations backup
status.
Due to d-stors web based GUI any problems that may occur or changes
to a locations backup policies can be effectively centrally managed
without requiring a physical visit to the location.
